New Delhi: NIIT.tv , a disruptive innovation by NIIT, has crossed a milestone as this platform has registered over 5,00,000 users from 172 countries and completed one year of empowering learners. In the initial phase, over 20 skill-based training programs in IT, Banking and Finance, Retail and Management were made available, which has now scaled up to 5500+ “live” as well as “on-demand” courses for various segments from school children to college students to working professionals for free.

The courses are NIIT.tv available in various languages such as English, Hindi, and other regional languages such as Tamil, Oriya, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Bengali, Telugu, Assamese. NIIT.tv is India’s largest MOOCs platform that can be accessed on a computer, tablet or smartphone anytime, anywhere. It is a democratic digital learning initiative, backed by NIIT’s strong Educational Technology framework, that was launched in October last year with an aim to bring high quality training from its classrooms to every digitally connected learner, for free, at any time, place and language of their choice.

Students accessing NIIT.tv can also access the rich bouquet of high quality, value-added services from NIIT centres i.e. training, professional certification, career counselling, and placement services.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Rahul Patwardhan, CEO, NIIT Ltd said, “At NIIT it is our mission to create skilled workforce across multiple sectors to cater to the trained manpower requirements that our economy needs. Today, as NIIT.tv completes one year of successfully empowering learners, as the largest Indian MOOCs platform, it reiterates our belief that this initiative is a potent technological and pedagogical force multiplier that will further help us create a digitally savvy workforce.”

Over past one year, NIIT.tv has entered into strategic tie-ups with various corporates and institutional organisations to create a 360-degree eco-system and provide additional value to the end users. In June this year, NIIT.tv entered into a tie-up with Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL), to provide skill-based courses on mobiles to 5 million women across India by 2020. In May’16 NIIT.tv partnered with Test Prep Site, My Perfectice to offer competitive exam preparation modules on NIIT.tv.

NIIT.tv also joined hands with Tutorials Point to provide additional value to their respective end users. Through this partnership the users of NIIT.tv and Tutorialspoint.com can access the content of both the sites. NIIT.tv entered into a significant tie-up with SASTRA University, one of the leading universities in India, situated in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu to offer support to students pursuing B.Tech and M.Tech degree programmes by helping them with their curriculum and beyond.  NIIT.tv has also partnered with Ernst & Young to provide school course videos to students.

Further NIIT.tv has also partnered with NGO’s like NIIT Foundation and Fair and Lovely foundation, that use the NIIT.tv courses in their network partner schools, institutions, and organization to strengthen their efforts in providing quality education.

Since its launch in October 2015, NIIT.tv programs have progressed well. Based on feedback from learners, the course catalogue has been enhanced, an intuitive learning dashboard has been introduced, and the proven cloud courseware system from NIIT’s Cloud Campus has been integrated into NIIT.tv. Also the NIIT.tv Android app is now available on the Google Play Store for free download.
