New Delhi: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has directed all educational institutions to encourage and ensure cashless transactions. All Institutions have been asked to ensure that cashless transactions are done via debit or credit cards, online transfers, RTGS, cheques, other online modes. Hence, fee payments including admission, regular tuition fees, exam fees, other charges will be paid via various online modes at the higher educational institutes.

The Union Minister for HRD, Prakash Javadekar, chaired meeting of top ministry officials and Heads of Boards and Councils yesterday (28 November 2016) in New Delhi where he reviewed steps to encourage cashless transactions in higher educational institutes.  The minister said that the institutions should educate people and student community to build a cashless economy.

Following the ongoing demonetization drive initiated by the government of India by banning Rs 500 and 1,000 notes, the government has directed all its departments and offices to encourage and implement measures to go for cashless transactions. Also, the government said that they can undertake trainings and initiate the process of facilitating the online banking modes such as debit card or credit card, online transfers, RTGS, cheques, and mobile banking via mobile applications such as UPI, e-wallets, etc.
