Dhanbad: Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad has invited applications for Junior Research Fellowship (PhD Programme) from eligible candidates in various disciplines of Engineering, Science, Management, Humanities and Social Sciences. The online submission of applications will commence from 12 December 2016. The closing date for submission of online application is 31 December 2016. The list of 24 disciplines available for JRF-PhD programmes is given at the last paragraph of the story.
Eligibility: As per the JRF-PhD notification, IIT(ISM) JRF is open to candidates, below the age of 30 years (35 years for women, PC, SC, ST & OB) as on the last date of online application (31.12.2016), who have obtained first class or OGPA 7.0 and above (In case of class not mentioned) in their qualifying degree of relevant discipline of Science, Engineering and Management. The cut-off for those candidates applying in the Humanities disciplines (English/ Philosophy/Sociology) is 55% marks or higher grade in their respective post-graduate degree. In order to encourage BTech candidates from IITs, applicants from IITs with CGPA/OGPA 8.50 and above will be allowed for direct interview in the IIT(ISM) JRF admissions.

Selection Procedure: The admission notification informed that IIT (ISM) will conduct JRF Entrance Examination (JRFEE) on 15 January 2017 at Chennai, Dhanbad, Kolkata, New Delhi and Pune centres. Candidates with Valid GATE Score / NET Rank or BTech from IITs in the respective discipline with OGPA/CGPA 8.5 and above are exempted from appearing in the JRF Entrance Examination (JRFEE).
The above modes will be considered as screening criteria. Merit list will be prepared on the basis of performance of the candidate in the interview only.
Fellowship: The selected candidates will get a consolidated research fellowship as given as given below: Rs 25,000 /- per month (first 2 years); Rs 28,000.00 (3rd year onwards). A contingency grant of Rs 30,000/- per annum are allowed with prior approval from Guide & Head of the Department.
