New Delhi: International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi, has invited applications for the ICGEB-JNU PhD Programme 2017. The streams available for PhD programmes are as followed:  Molecular Medicine, Plant Biology, and Integrative Biology. The ICGEB is an international, nonprofit research organization. Established as a special project of UNIDO, it became fully autonomous in 1994 and now has presence over 60 Member States.

The closing date for submission of application is 15 May 2017. The research areas are given below: INTEGRATIVE BIOLOGY – Microbial Engineering, Metabolic Engineering, Omics of Algae, Structural Immunology, Systems Biology for Biofuel, Transcriptional Regulation, Translational Bioinformatics, Yeast Biofuel;  MOLECULAR MEDICINE- Cellular Immunology, ICGEB-EMORY Vaccine Program, Malaria Biology, Malaria Drug Discovery, Membrane Protein Biology, Parasite Biology, Parasite Cell Biology, Recombinant Gene Products, Structural Parasitology, Translational Health, and Vector Borne Diseases; PLANT BIOLOGY – Crop Improvement, Nutritional Improvement of Crops, Plant Insect Interaction, Plant RNAi Biology, Plant Stress Biology, and Plant Transformation.

Eligibility Conditions:

(A)  First class (60% or equivalent grade) MSc in any branch of Science (eg Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, etc) or MTech or MBBS or MVSc or MPharm or equivalent qualification recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, is required. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination this year may also apply; they will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfilment of the above requirements at the time of joining (1st July 2017).

(B)  The applicant should have cleared any one of the following examinations: CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT (I), DST-INSPIRE, BINC or any other equivalent JRF examination. The fellowship must be valid for at least four years.  GATE and DBT(II) are not accepted.

Selection Procedure: Eligible candidates will be called for a written exam on 13 June 2017. Candidates shortlisted based on the written exam will be interviewed on 14 & 15 June 2017.
