Guwahati: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati has notified for admission process for the academic year 2017-18 under following programmes: MA in Development studies, MTech and MDes, Master of Science by Research [M.S.(R)] in Energy, PhD, Dual Degree (MTech+PhD) Programme for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Dual Degree [MS(Eng.)+PhD] Programme for the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, MTech in Rural Technology and PhD in Rural Technology.
The online application process has already started 22 March 2017. The closing of online application process is 17 April 2017.
PhD Programmes: IIT Guwahati has invited applications for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme starting in July 2017. The departments/centres and areas in which PhD programmes are offered are as followed: Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biosciences and Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Design, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Humanities & Social Sciences ( Archaeology, Development Studies, English, Economics, Linguistics, Political Science, Philosophy and Psychology), Centre for the Environment, Centre for Energy, Centre for Nanotechnology, Centre for Linguistic Science and Technology, and Centre for Rural Technology.
IIT Guwahati informed that the institute admits PhD students in the following categories: Regular, Sponsored (Full-Time), Self-Financed (Full Time), Project Staff, Part-Time, External .
Financial Support: Institute assistantships will be available to eligible PhD students as per prevailing (MHRD, GOI/UGC) norms.
PhD in Rural Technology is available. The research areas under PhD in Rural Technology are as followed: Technology and Development; Public Policy and Governance; Rural Housing, Transportation; Energy, Environment, Climate Change and Development; Environment Assessment; Water Resources; and Agro-Food Processing.
