Exclusive by Rudra Narayan Sahoo, Mumbai: Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, India’s best crowned university, has already released the admission notification for 2017-18 academic year for various programmes including UG, Integrated PhD, MTech, MTech (Res), PhD, etc . After extension of last date for online submission of application, the application window now closes on 29 March 2017 at IISc.

In India there are 23 IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology).  Out of these 23, six new IITs have commenced classes from academic year 2016-17: IIT Goa, IIT Bhilai (Chattishgarh), IIT Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir), IIT Dharwad (Karnataka), IIT  Tirupati, and IIT Palakkad. The total number of student capacity for various BTech courses offered by these IITS stood at 10,572 for the academic year 2016-17. Although BTech is the flagship degree course, offered by IITs, other higher degree courses such as MTech, MTech (Research) Integrated PhD, PhD, etc. are also very popular courses among students.

IITs are also the dream destinations for students who have an ambition to pursue Doctoral programmes, or PhD. Most of the IITs have already released their official notification for admission to various PhD programmes for the next session (First Semester 2017-18 or Autumn 2017-18). Meanwhile, in a major departure from normal admission procedure, IIT Madras, has switched to rolling admission mode for its PhD and MS research degree programmes for AY 2017-18.
