New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has developed an integrated portal focusing on better coordination between Central Universities (CUs), UGC and Ministry of HRD  on planning, financing,  and development of CUs.  The main objective of the website is to move towards paperless transactions between CUs, UGC and MHRD.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) provides both Development (Plan) and Maintenance (Non-Plan) assistance to Central Universities under various schemes/programmes to CUs. At present  there are 40 Central Universities are provided Plan (Development) Grant and grant under other specific schemes of the UGC. Further, a total of 24 Old Central Universities including 3 newly converted Central Universities and one Medical College are receiving Maintenance Grant from the UGC.

The UGC has directed Central Universities to appoint a competent person to act as a Nodal Officer. The Nodal Officer will provide the various information and relevant  documents related to teaching/non-teaching / student strength, expenditure details, etc. The higher education regulator directed CUs to appoint Nodal Officer on urgent basis.

Further, the UGC informed that Central Universities should fill details of teaching/non-teaching/student strength, expenditure etc. as on 01 August 2017 on the CU portal latest by 15 August 2017.
