Bhubaneswar:  The fifth national symposium on Rural Management commenced today (18 November 2016) at XIMB, Bhubaneswar on the them “Managing to Transform: Rethinking Rural and Development Management”.  Xavier School of Rural Management(XSRM), has once again set the stage, with all rural stakeholders coming together for transformational development in rural managing.

Mr. Dibyajyoti Pattanaik, Director, Annapurna Microfinance, emphasized the rapidly changing world of financing and the importance of adaptability and a convergent effort on part of the entrepreneurial world. “Change is the buzzword of time, keep updating yourself “, said Mr. Pattanaik

Mr. Shankar Shastri, Director, Executive VP and Chief Risk Officer, Annapurna Microfinance, an alumni of XIMB, highlighted the significance of MSMEs in shaping up the rural development scenario in India while calling for more technical and skill investment for a faster transformation.

 Prof. Kajri Misra, Dean (XSRM) opened the session, following which Vice chancellor of XIMB-XUB, Fr.Dr. Paul Fernandes, S.J, addressed the keen audience on the importance of rural management for societal and corporate development. Shri Madhusudan Padhi, Principal Secretary, Department of Rural Development, Govt. of Odisha, Mr. Manojit Biswas, Deputy General Manager, NABARD and Ms. Navneet Gambhir, National Rural Alliance and Activation Manager, GSK were some of prominent figures from the industry who graced this one of its kind symposium in the country speaking extensively on topics ranging from Agribusinesses to Social Entrepreneurship.

The event also attracts tremendous participation from academics, students and professionals who will get an opportunity to present case studies and video stories.
