New Delhi, 12 October 2017: It is a double bonanza for aspirants who plan to pursue career in faculty positions in universities, higher educational institutes and premier technical institutes. First, the Union Cabinet approves revised pay scales of teachers and equivalent academic staff in Universities/Colleges & centrally funded technical institutions. This revision would register an entry pay growth in the range of 22% to 28%.

On the other hand, there are large employment opportunities for faculty career aspirants as many National Institutes of Technology (NITs) have released recruitment notification for hiring faculty members. Currently there are 12 NITs where recruitment window is open for faculty posts. The total number of vacant positions in these 12 NITs are expected be nearly 1,300 positions. |

Few months back Union HRD Minister Mr Prakash Javadekar had hinted NITs would go on a recruitment drive. Following this policy and guidelines of Modified Recruitment Rule (MRR) for faculty in NITs, approved by President of India and published in Gazette of India dated July 24, 2017, NITs have joined the faculty recruitment bandwagon.

There are 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs), which are Institutes of National Importance. The recruitment and pay packages of teaching staff of NITs is governed by norms issued by the Ministry of HRD. No doubt, the salary packages are attractive in NITs.

Recruitment window is just opened for 177 faculty posts in National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. The online application portal has opened today (11 October 2017). The closing date of online portal is 11 November 2017. The last date for submission of Hard Copy is 21 November 2017.

NIT Durgapur has just released notification to hire 104 faculty posts for its 14 departments. The closing date for submission of application is 06 November 2017. NIT Jamshedpur and NIT Delhi are on recruitment drive for teaching positions.

The recruitment window has opened in National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, where total number of vacant faculty post is 205. Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (NIT) Allahabad has also joined recruitment bandwagon as it has notified to recruit 94 faculty posts.
