Mumbai: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection also known as IBPS, has officially released on 14 August 2017 the recruitment notification for the next Common Recruitment Process for selection of personnel for Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee posts. The online examination (Preliminary and Main) 2017 will be tentatively scheduled in October / November 2017. The total no of post is 3,562 in 20 participating banks.

The online application window will open on 16 August 2017 while it will close on 05 September 2017. A candidate, who aspires to join any of the Participating Organizations as a Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee or in a similar post in that cadre, is required to register for the Common Recruitment Process (CWE PO/MT-VII). Here, SkillOutlook presents five key points for this common recruitment process.

1 Total number of vacancies and participating banks: The total no of post is 3,562. Although a total number of 20 participating banks are part of this recruitment drive, only nine banks have reported their vacancy levels via IBPS PO/MT recruitment process.

2 Key Dates: The online application window will open on 16 August 2017 while it will close on 05 September 2017. The Online Examination – Preliminary exams will be held on 07 October 2017, 08 October 2017, 14 October 2017 and 15 October 2017. The Online Examination – Main will be held on 26 November 2017. Educational Qualifications (As on 05.09.2017): The application fee is Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates. For others, the application fee is Rs. 600 /- for all others.

3 Eligibility Conditions: Educational Qualifications (As on 05.09.2017): A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognised by the Govt. Of India or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. The candidate must possess valid Mark-sheet / Degree Certificate that he/ she is a graduate on the day he / she registers and indicate the percentage of marks obtained in Graduation while registering online.

Age (As on 01.08.2017): Minimum: 20 years Maximum: 30 years. Relaxation in upper age is available as per Government Norms.

4 Selection Process: The examination will be two tier i.e. the online examination will be held in two phases, Preliminary and Main. Candidates who will qualify in Preliminary examination and shortlisted will have to appear for Main examination and shortlisted candidates in the Main examination will subsequently be called for a Common Interview to be conducted by the Participating Organizations and co-ordinate  by the Nodal Bank.

5 Exam Pattern: The total duration of the Preliminary Examination is one hour. The test will have three parts: English Language (30 questions with 30 marks); Quantitative Aptitude ( 35 questions with 35 marks); and Reasoning Ability (35 questions with 35 marks. The maximum marks in the Preliminary Examination is 100. Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing minimum cut-off marks to be decided by IBPS. Adequate number of candidates in each category as decided by IBPS depending upon requirements will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.

The main examination will have five parts:  Reasoning & Computer Aptitude (45 questions with 60 marks); General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness (40 questions with 40 marks); English Language (35 questions with 40 marks); Data Analysis & Interpretation (35 questions and 60 marks; and English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) (2 Questions with 25 marks).

The notification informed that there will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question.
