New Delhi: India Meteorological Department is hiring Scientific Assistant, Group „B‟ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post, in the Level 6 of the Pay Matrix (Pay Band2 (Rs.9300-34800) plus Grade Pay Rs.4200 in pre-revised scale).  Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct an open competitive examination for recruitment to these posts from 20 November 2017 to 27 November 2017 in computer based mode all over the country.

The total number of vacancies is 1,102. Candidate should apply online at www.ssconline.nic.in.  The closing date for submission of application is 04 August 2017.

Eligibility Conditions:

Age: Not exceeding 30 years as on 04 August 2017. Upper age relaxation is available for Reserved Category candidates.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with Physics as one of the subject)/ Computer Science/Information Technology/ Computer Applications OR Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from a recognized Institution/University or equivalent.

NOTE-I The qualifying Degree or diploma referred above should be in First Class (60% marks) or 6.75 CGPA on a 10 point scale.

NOTE-II The qualifying Degree or Diploma referred above must be of three (3) years duration after (10+2) examination.

NOTE-III The applicant must have passed 10+2 Examination from a Recognized Board or equivalent in Science with Physics and Mathematics as core subjects.

Application fee is Rs 100/- . All women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Physically Handicapped categories are exempted from paying application fee, as per extant government orders.

Scheme of Examination:  The examination would comprise 200 questions carrying 200 marks for two hours duration. The question paper would have two parts, Part – I & Part – II.

Part-I: Computer based Examination mode (i) General Intelligence & Reasoning (25 Markts); (ii) Quantitative Aptitude (25); (iii) English language & Comprehension(25); (iv) General Awareness  (25 Marks).

Part-II: Computer based Examination mode Physics, Computer Science and Information Technology, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (100 Marks).
