New Delhi, 1 December, 2017: The first National PSU Conference organized by SHRM India was concluded successfully today. The two day conference was specifically targeted at enabling optimum utilisation of HR Solutions in framing better policies. The conference aimed at bridging the gap between business and HR and transform human resources solutions in the PSU sector.
Panel discussions, special talks and group sessions at the conference took a holistic yet multi-dimensional look at issues pertaining to the practice of HR in the PSU Sector. The conference managed to take a 3600 look at relevant issues with leading policy makers and top HR personnel’s at leading PSU’s sharing their experiences and perspective. DD Mishra, Director HR, ONGC; Shri. Mukesh Jain Joint Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment Govt. of India; Dr A K Balyan, CEO, Oil & Gas, Reliance Infrastructure, DP Singh, Vice President & Head HR, IBM India & South Asia; Abhijit Bhaduri, founder, Abhijit Bhaduri & Associates; Saptarishi Roy, Director HR, NTPC were some of the eminent speakers at the conference.
In the opening session on day two, “Public-private best practices: learning in skill and capability development” Dr A K Balyan emphasized on how technology, decisions and people are equally important for any organizational development. Dr Chandrasekhar Sripada, professor – OB & Strategic Human Capital, ISB stressed the need of a skilled workforce in both private and public sectors. Dr Sripada said that best practices should never be chosen based on where they come from but should be chosen based on what they have accomplished.
Talking about the conference, Ms. Achal Khanna CEO, SHRM India, said, “The level of participation and the depth of discussion at the conference belie the fact that this is the first such PSU specific HR Event and I am sure that over the years this conference will become the most educative and comprehensive conference for the PSU sector. There was a big debate on ‘The millennial wave: managing the expectations of the millennial generation’, wherein participants engaged in a lively discussion on how Millennia’s are the main stay of any organization today. And how in managing the motivations and expectations of this highly agile population who are highly social, mobile, video and collaborative technologies HR needs to create a consistent and silver quick communication flows between organizations and employees.
A special session conducted by Sunita Bhuiyan explored the role music can play in leadership and help in driving change in the organization while a special talk by Nitin Razdan Partner, Consulting Human Capital, Deloitte deliverd significant insights of the future of work and the evolving role of learning organizations.
