New Delhi: Content, editors and journalists reported 2 per cent rise in talent demand in August 2017. In an otherwise dull recruitment month content-related roles and specialisations witnessed maximum rise in demand, finds the latest RecruiteX report by TimesJobs.

Since April 2017, content, editor and journalism professionals have posted an average rise of 1 per cent in demand. In comparison, other key profiles such as engineers, IT and marketing professionals posted drop during the same period.

Other functions in demand in August included: BioTechnology, pharmaceutical professionals witnessed 1 per cent rise in demand and  Accounting & finance professionals also witnessed 1 per cent rise in demand.

“The rise of digitisation has pushed the demand for content writers. With even the popular print mediums intensifying focus on strengthening their online channels, add to that the rise of blogging sites and e-commerce companies, the demand for content-lead roles can only increase in the coming times,” said Ramathreya Krishnamurthi, Business Head, TimesJobs.

The overall talent demand in August 2017 dropped by 6 per cent and consulting services was the top hiring sector. Automobiles sector also saw rise in talent demand during the month, though it was nominal. IT/telecom and logistics sectors posted significant drop in talent demand.

Among key locations, tier II locations posted maximum increase in demand. Vadodara was the top hiring location in August 2017. Delhi-NCR continued to hire even though the rise in hiring activity was a mere 1 per cent in August. Among states, Gujarat posted 25 per cent rise in talent demand.

Hiring dropped across experience categories, with professionals having more than 20 years of experience witnessing highest drop in demand. Professionals with less than 2 and 10-20 years of experience posted 9 per cent drop in demand and those with 5-10 years of experience witnessed 4 per cent drop in demand in August 2017.
