New Delhi: Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) New Delhi, an Institute of National Importance, invites applications for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Science and Engineering Programs for the January 2019 Batch. The research stream are disciplines of Science and Engineering – an exciting opportunity to pursue doctoral research in world renowned CSIR Laboratories – the Nation-wide Network of AcSIR Centers.

There are about 2000 Scientists of CSIR across about 40 national institutes who are Faculty members of AcSIR. In addition, Eminent Academy Professors, Distinguished Emeritus Professors and Adjunct Faculty members from reputed institutions and industry who contribute professionally to AcSIR.

Key Dates:  Commencement of Online Admission Portal: 21 September 2018

Last date for submission of Online Application: 25 October 2018

Intimation to shortlisted candidates: 07 November 2018

Aptitude Test/Interview: 26th November 2018 to 14th December 2018

Declaration of Results: 19th December 2018

Enrollment: 14th January 2019 to 15th January 2019

Commencement of Academic Session: 18th January 2018

AcSIR PhD Admission 2019 Eligibility Criteria For PhD (Engineering) & Integrated Dual-Degree PhD (IDDP) Program:

PhD in Engineering : (i)A Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology following a four-year engineering/technology or 4/5 years science degree; or an integrated minimum-5-year M Tech degree; or equivalent;

(ii) And and At least one of the following:

Awarded a national-level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes

Meeting all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-SRF

Meeting all the conditions for award of the INSPIRE fellowship (typically awarded to students ranked first in the University)

Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistants to register for a PhD

Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored* students.

Integrated Dual-Degree PhD (IDDP) Program

A 4-year undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science (such as BE/BTech/BS), or a five year degree in Science (such as MSc), or equivalent and;

AND

At least one of the following

Awarded a national-level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes

Meeting all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-GATE-JRF

Meeting all the conditions for award of the INSPIRE fellowship (typically awarded to students ranked first in the University)

Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistants to register for a PhD

Meeting all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored* students.

*with endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during program.

These are only minimum quality yardsticks of eligibility for consideration for admission and bear no relationship with financial assistance or scholarship. Any stipend, scholarship or financial source for study would be the sole responsibility of the student. AcSIR itself does not provide any such scholarship or have any rule in these matters.

For PhD (Sciences) & Sponsored PhD (Sciences)

PhD (Sciences)

Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology, Medicine or Master’s degree in Science with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical & Information Sciences leading to a PhD degree

The candidate should be having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/ SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST etc.), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships

Project Assistants, Senior Research Fellows and CSIR Scientists are also eligible to apply (as per AcSIR Ordinance No. 4(5))

Sponsored PhD (Sciences)

Regular: Master’s degree in Science*

Direct: Undergraduate degree in Science or allied subjects with at least 8.5 and/or 1strank holder in University/ Institution*.

*with endorsement from Industry, Academic or Research Institutes for required academic leave and financial support during program.

Applicants qualifying their degree in percentage shall use the formula, CGPA=(Percentage + 5) /10. Applicants with percentage ≥ 95%, shall fill 10 CGPA.
