New Delhi: The National Museum Institute of the History of Art, Conservation and Museology NMIHACM), a Deemed to be University under the Ministry of Culture, GoI, has invited applications from eligible candidates for MA and PhD courses 2017-18. NMIHACM offers the following courses: MA (History of Art) MA (Conservation), MA (Museology), PhD (History of Art), PhD (Conservation), and PhD (Museology). The institute is located in the National Museum, New Delhi.

The last date for submission of MA and PhD applications is 21 June 2017 (Wednesday) upto 17: 00 hours. The institutes also awards eight Merit Scholarships each @ Rs.40,000/- per annum and 08 merit-cum-means scholarships each @ Rs.12,000/- per annum for MA students.

Eligibility Conditions:

MA (History of Art):

A Graduate Degree from an Indian University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or a recognized foreign University with minimum 50% marks.

Desirable: A Background in Social sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts.

Total Seats: 25 (Reservation as per Govt. of India rules)

MA (Conservation):

A Graduate Degree from an Indian University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or a recognized foreign University with minimum 50% marks in any one of the following subjects:

Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology or Visual/Fine Arts or Architecture,

Engineering and Technology

OR

A graduate degree from recognised university in any of the following subjects:

History, Geography, Anthropology, Archaeology or related disciplines with minimum 50% marks and 10+2 / Senior secondary/ Intermediate level education in Science stream.

Total Seats: 15 (Reservation as per Govt. of India rules)

MA (Museology):

A Graduate Degree from an Indian University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or a recognized foreign University with minimum 50% marks. The degree can be BA /BSc (Honour’s) or BA/BSc/BFA in any discipline under Humanities and Social Science/ Science from

Desirable: A Background/PG Diploma in subjects related to History of Art and Museum studies.

Total Seats: 15 (Reservation as per Govt. of India rules)

Desirable: Knowledge of one Classical / Foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian other than mother tongue will be an additional qualification for the purpose of MA courses.

PhD (History of Art):

Seats – 7

Any Person holding a Master Degree with minimum 55% marks in M.A. History of Art / History / Archaeology / Anthropology / Aesthetics or its equivalent from a recognized University / Institute.

PhD (Conservation):

Seats – 7

Any Person holding a Master Degree with minimum 55% marks in M.A. Conservation or Master Degree in Chemistry / Physics / Life Sciences / Museology / Architecture its equivalent from a recognized University / Institute.

PhD (Museology):

Seats – 5

Any Person holding a Master Degree with minimum 55% marks in Museology or Master Degree in History / Ancient Indian History and Archaeology or its equivalent from a recognized University / Institute.

Selection Procedure: There will be a two stage selection procedure: written test and interview.
