New Delhi: Application window is open for Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research. A student should have taken admission in full-time PhD in last 14 months from the date of submission of application in any recognized Indian university / institute / research laboratory.

Key Date: The eligible candidates should apply before 25 May 2018 for being evaluated in the next round of selection. However, this being an open-ended scheme, one can apply anytime during the year and the application will be considered in the next council meeting.

The Prime Minister’s Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research is a public-private partnership (PPP) between Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB), which is an autonomous body under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The fellowship scheme is available in the following research areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine.

This scheme is aimed at encouraging young, talented, enthusiastic and result-oriented scholars to take up industry-relevant research. Maximum government fellowship in India at any academic or research institute is approximately Rs 36,400 per month, including House Rent Allowance (HRA) for SRF category. While one-half of this scholarship comes from the government, the second half comes from a partner company which also works closely with the candidate on the research project. The first batch commenced in 2013. The scheme has been made open-ended since September 2014, allowing aspirants to apply anytime within 14 months from their PhD registration.

Register as a student on the portal www.primeministerfellowshipscheme.in.

Download the Call for Proposal and Document Checklist.

Tie up with a company and get the required undertakings signed from a valid signatory in the company as well as in the host institute.

Collect all documents and make digital copies of each.

Fill the application form online (the form cannot be downloaded and requires net connectivity while filling).

Submit application.

Note: Candidates need not to send any physical copy of the application / documents to CII.
