New Delhi: The UGC-NET 2017 exam will he held on 05 November 2017 (Sunday). More than seven lakh students are expected to register the exam. The application submission window is open till 11 September 2017. The exam will be held in 84 subjects at 91 selected NET Examination Cities spread across the country.
As the historical pass rate for UGC-NET for Assistance Professor is 5-6% while for JRF is 1-1.5%, the exam is going to tough for the candidates. The Test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and will be held on 05th November, 2017 (SUNDAY) in three separate sessions. Here SkillOutlook presents the pattern and scheme of examination of NET Nov 2017, which may help students prepare their strategy.
Pattern of the test: The Test will consist of three papers: Paper 1 ; Paper 2 ; and Paper 3. Paper 1 will have 100 marks with total duration of 75 Minutes. The Paper 2 will have 100 Marks with total duration of 75 Minutes. Meanwhile, the Paper 3 will have 150 marks with total duration Two Hours and 30 Minutes.
Pattern of UGC-NET Nov 2017 Test

Paper 1: The pattern is slightly changed this time for Paper I. The paper I shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions and each question will carry 2 marks. The paper shall be of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. The candidates need to answer this paper in 75 minutes.
Paper 2: This shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks. The duration of the paper is 75 minutes.
Paper 3: Paper-III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks. The duration of the paper is duration Two Hours and 30 Minutes.
No negative mark system: All the questions of Paper – II and Paper – III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options). There are no negative marks of incorrect answers.
Procedure & Criteria for declaration of Results (Qualifying): As per earlier notified by the UGC, the qualifying criteria has been adopted. This will comprise of following steps:
Step I: The candidates are required to obtain minimum marks in aggregate of all three papers i.e. Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper –III for considering a candidate for the award of JRF and eligibility for Assistant Professor as given below:

Step II: Amongst those candidates who have appeared in all three papers and cleared step I, a merit list will be prepared subject-wise and category-wise using the aggregate marks of all the three papers secured by such candidates.
Step III: The number of slots for eligibility for Assistant Professor only will be equal to the 6% of the candidates appeared in all three papers of NET. The subject-wise and category-wise distribution of slots will be calculated by using the similar formula as used for calculation slots of JRF.
Step IV: A separate merit list for the award of JRF will be prepared from amongst the NET qualified candidates figuring in the merit list prepared under step III by using the specified formula.
In the previous UGC NET exam, candidates were required to score minimum specified marks in each papers. As per revised pattern and changes in qualifying norms, for November 2017 NET exam, candidates need to score minimum marks in aggregate of all three papers. Hence, the criteria for scoring subject specific minimum marks for qualifying the exam is abolished for UGC NET November 2017 Examination.
