JNU admission application window opens today for 2018-19: 339 seats for PhD & 381 seats for MPhil/PhD programmes

New Delhi, 15 Sept 2017: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India’s top ranked university in general stream, has released official admission procedure for the academic year 2018-19. The online admission window has opened from today (15 Sept 2017).  The University will hold Entrance Examination for admission to various programmes of study from 27 to 30 December 2017. The Entrance Examination will be held in 53 cities in India and also in Kathmandu (Nepal).

Through Entrance Examination JNU-December 2017, the following courses will be offered for admission: MPhil/PhD, MPhil/PhD through JRF, PhD, PhD through JRF, MTech, MPH, PGDE, MA, MSc, MCA, BA (Hons.) in Foreign Languages and Part-Time courses.

The total intake seats for PhD programmes are 339 for AY 2018-19. The total intake seats for MPhil/PhD programmes for AY 2018-19 is 381.  The admission process for  candidates for MPhil/PhD and PhD candidates will be based on written examination and for viva voce examination. The candidates qualifying with 50% marks in the written examination shall be called for viva voce Examination.

A large number of seats available for admission to PhD programmes are available in the following subjects: Ph.D. in Trade & Development (ITD)- 29 seats; Ph.D. in Political Studies (POL)- 13; Ph.D. in Geography (GEO) – 8; Ph.D. in Philosophy (SPH) – 12; Ph.D. in Informal Sector and Labour Studies (ISL) -16; School of Computer & Systems Sciences  – Ph.D. – 19; School of Life Sciences – Ph.D. (SLS); Ph.D. in Physical Sciences (PHY) – 20; Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences (CHE) – 7; Ph.D. in computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CBB) – 18; School of Biotechnology Ph.D. (SBT) -22; Centre for Molecular Medicine – Ph.D. (CMM) -19; Centre for Nano Sciences -07; and others.

A large number of seats available for admission to M.Phil/Ph.D. programmes are available in the following subject:  M.Phil/Ph.D. in Geography (GEO)-18 seats; M.Phil/Ph.D. in Political Studies (POL) – 19; M.Phil/Ph.D. in Economics Studies & Planning (ECO) – 19; i) M.Phil/Ph.D. in Trade & Development (ITD) – 13; M.Phil/Ph.D. in European Studies (EUP)-11; M.Phil/Ph.D. in Social Systems (SOC) – 19; M.Phil/Ph.D. in Philosophy (SPH) -14; MPhil/PhD – 7 seats; M.Phil/Ph.D. Sanskrit Studies – 19; M.Phil/Ph.D. in Russian (RSN) – 17; and others.

The online application window will close on 13 October 2017 (11.59 PM).

JNU has also announced the schedule and admission process for Combined Entrance Examination for BioTechnology (CEEB) 2018-19. The CCEB for admission session 2018-19 will be held on 30 December 2017. The online admission window has opened today (15 Sept 2017).
