Key features and pattern of PhD Entrance Test 2017-18, Savitribai Phule Pune University

Pune: Savitribai Phule Pune University, formerly University of Pune, will hold PhD Entrance Test (PET) on 10 September 2017 for PhD & MPhil admission for the academic year 2017-18. As  Savitribai Phule Pune University is one of poplar universities for PhD and Research aspirants and also admits a large number of students for PhD programmes, here SkillOutlook presents key points of PhD Entrance Test and its pattern.

Selection Process: Candidate will be admitted to PhD programme by a two stage process through: Entrance Examination and ) Personal interview. Entrance Examination shall be a qualifying test. The Entrance Examination will be of 100 marks with multiple type choice questions.

Personal interview of candidates qualifying in Entrance Test/ Candidates exempted from Entrance Examination, will be conducted by the respective Recognized Research Centre of the university.

Pattern of Ph D Entrance Examination 2017-18: Entrance Test Paper consists of two parts: a) Research Methodology (50marks)  b) Subject Specific (50 marks).  All questions with multiple choices, each correct answer carries 1 Mark. There is no negative mark system.

PET is qualifying test while the standard passing mark for PET is 50% marks.

Exemption from appearing in Entrance Examination: The Candidates fulfilling at least one of the following conditions will be exempted from Entrance Examination:

  1. Candidates qualified in UGC-NET (Including JM)AJGC-CSIRNET (Including JRF)/SLET/GATE (valid score) or teacher fellowship holders will be exempted from the Entrance Test for PhD progrtlmme.
  2. Candidates who have passed MPhil Programme of the Savitribai Phule Pune University will be exempted from the Entrance Test for PhD programme.

Key Dates:  The online application window has opened from 26 July 2017. The closing date for submission of application is 15 August 2017. The date of online PhD Entrance Test is 10 September 2017 (Sunday). The publication of results on the university website is 10 September 2017.
