PhD admission 2017-18 open in Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata for Faculty of Art, Fine Arts and Visual Arts

Kolkata: Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, a state Public university in West Bengal, has invited online applications for admission to PhD Programmes in the subjects under the Faculty of Art, Fine Arts and Visual Arts in the session 2017-2018. There are 68 PhD seats available for admission 2017-18 in all the subjects. The subject wise vacant PhD  list is given at the bottom of the story.

Key Dates and Application Fees: The online application window is open on the University Website atfrom 08 September 2017 to 20 September 2017. The last date for online payment through admission getaway is 21 September 2017 ( upto 4:00 p.m.). The date of Written Entrance Test is 28 October 2017. Application Processing Fee is Rs.250/-+ additional charge of Bank (Rs.150/- + additional charge of Bank for PWD candidates).

Eligibility Conditions: The PhD admission is done as per University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.PHIL/ Ph.D Degrees) Regulations, 2016.

Education Qualification:

Candidates having Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, in the concerned or allied subject with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) .

A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.

Admission Procedure & Exemption Category for Written Test: The candidates will have to appear for a written Entrance Test, and if qualified, have to appear for an interview to be conducted by the Department concerned. However, the students who have cleared MPhil or have qualified in the NET / SET / GATE / UGC (JRF) / CSIR (JRF) or Teacher Fellowship Holder  will be exempted from appearing in the written Entrance Test to be conducted by the University. Such candidates will have to appear in the interview.
