Thiruvananthapuram: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Thiruvananthapuram has invited applications from highly motivated students for admission to the PhD Programme starting August 2017. PhD programmes are offered by IISER Thiruvananthapuram on Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Physical Sciences streams.

The online application window has opened from 1 March 2017. The last date of receipt of the application from 30 April 2017. The institute informed that announcement of shortlisted candidates on the Institute’s website http://www.iisertvm.ac.in will be on 3 May 2017.

Eligibility Conditions: The eligibility criteria for various PhD programmes  (Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Physical Sciences) are different. Selection Procedure:   Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. On successful clearing of interview, the candidate shall be provisionally admitted for the PhD program.

For candidates applying the Biological Sciences, it is mandatory for all the candidates to submit a short research proposal of 300-400 words, which should clearly state a research problem you find interesting to address and how you approach towards solving this. While applying online, candidates should upload this proposal under the section “Statement of Purpose”.

IISER Thiruvananthapuram or IISER-TVM, is one of seven IISERs, institutes set up by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, to bridge the gap between teaching and research at the undergraduate science level in the country. The institute awards five-year integrated Master of Science degrees in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. IISER also providing research degrees in those research areas.
