New Delhi: The PhD Admission is conducted by universities or institutes in India in two sessions: Autumn (July-August) and Spring (January-February). For the January 2018 (Spring) session, some universities have already notified their admission process for doctoral programmes. PhD aspirants or students should know and kick start their preparation to clear the PhD Admission Test.
There are more than seven universities where PhD admission window is open: IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Bombay, IIT Bombay- Monash Research Academy, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune and National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, University of Mysore, Manipal University, and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University New Delhi. In addition to these, the application window is also open for UGC-NET and Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (U-SET).
IIT Gandhinagar – Start Early PhD Fellowship: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar has invited applications for its Start Early PhD Fellowship programmes. This full-time residential fellowship is designed to enable budding engineers to gain early entry into the PhD programmes at IIT Gandhinagar. After completion of this programme, BTech degree holders can earn PhD degree directly. Application portal is currently open for admission to the Start Early PhD programme beginning in July 2018.
Application form submission deadline is 29 September 2017. There is no application fee. The Written Test and/or Interview is scheduled in October 2017. The joining date for the programme is July 2018. The PhD candidates will get Rs. 35,000/- per month (with valid GATE score) while Rs. 25,000/- per month (without GATE score).

IT Bombay 334 PhD seat strength for AY 2017-18: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay invites application for PhD programmes for Spring Semester 2017-18. For the full academic years 2017-18, the total sanctioned strength for PhD programmes is 334 seats. The class for Spring Semester 2017-18 for PhD progarmmes will commence from January 2018. The last date of filling forms online is 16 October 2017 while the last date for receipt of completed application forms with supporting documents is 16 October 2017.
Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University New Delhi PhD Entrance Test 2017-2018: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi has released notification for admission to PhD programme 2017-18. PhD admission open in IIT Bombay- Monash Research Academy: IIT Bombay- Monash Research Academy (The Academy) has invited applications from eligible candidates for PhD admission in various research programs. IIT Bombay- Monash Research Academy is a partnership between IIT Bombay and Monash University, Melbourne (Australia). The Academy is under-pinned by a PhD Agreement between IIT Bombay and Monash University, students will receive a dual-badged PhD degree from IIT Bombay and Monash University. The last date for submission of EOI forms is 11 September 2017. The Academy claimed that it will offer PhD Scholarships to successful candidates.
IUCAA-NCRA PhD Admission Test 2017: The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune and National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCRA-TIFR), Pune have notified for IUCAA-NCRA Admission Test 2017. The IUCAA-NCRA Admission Test (INAT-2017) is conducted to select candidates for a research scholarship towards a PhD at either IUCAA or NCRA-TIFR.
The closing date for submission of online application is 15 September 2017 (Friday). The last date for the online submission of the Assessment forms is 20 September 2017. These are two leading centres of research in a wide range of areas in Physics, and Astronomy and Astrophysics.
University of Mysore PhD Entrance Examination 2017-18: University of Mysore, a public state university in Karnataka, has invited applications from eligible candidates for PhD Entrance Exam 2017-18. The PhD Entrance Exam will be held on 29 October 2017. There are a total of number of 948 PhD seats available in 51 various subjects.
The application form is available in the website (official website of University of Mysore) from 20 August 2017 to 09 September 2017. The application fee is Rs. 2000/- for General Merit candidates: while for SC/ST/Cat-1/ candidates application fee is Rs. 750/-. Candidates seeking exemptions the Entrance examination should to apply without paying the entrance examination fee.
Uttarakhand State Eligibility Test (U-SET) will be held on 29 October 2017 (Sunday). Kumaun University, the State Agency of the Uttarakhand Government for conducting USET, has released official notification for U-SET October 2019. The test will be held on 27 subjects and 11 cities in Uttarakhand. The online submission of application and fee payment is 22 September.
Meanwhile, the UGC-National Eligibility Test will be held on 05 November 2017 (Sunday. The last date for applying online the test is 11 September 2017 and fee can be paid up to 12 September 2017. The CBSE has decided to use Aadhaar authentication for the applicants at the time of submission of application form for UGC NET November 2017.
