Bengaluru:  Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 results have been announced today morning (09 January 2016). There are 20 candidates who have scored overall 100 percentile in CAT 2016. The most surprise part is that they are all male and all have engineering background. Prof. Rajendra K Bandi, Convener, CAT 2016, said: “However, in the sectionals, many non-engineers and female candidates have scored 100 percentile.”

On 04 December 2016, 1.95 lakh candidates appeared the national test which was conducted across 138 cities in the country. In a press statement, IIM Bangalore informed that on Monday, January 9, 2017, the candidates were informed individually by text messages about the results and their overall percentile. Further, the results were available on the CAT website (www.iimcat.ac.in).

“The untiring support of the CAT Committee, comprising admissions chairpersons of IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode and IIM Lucknow, and the tremendous hard work by the CAT 2016 Secretariat at IIM Bangalore played a big role in enabling us to declare the results on schedule,” Prof. Bandi said.

IIM Bangalore will announce its shortlist for personal interviews on its website (www.iimb.ernet.in) later today, informed Prof. Bandi.

The CAT 2016 scores are accepted by 20 IIMs where total seat strength is 3750 for various Post Graduate Programme courses.  In addition to IIMs, CAT scores are also accepted for admissions to top B-schools such as IIT, NIT and IISc Department of Management Studies, Faculty of Management Studies of top universities such as Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Lucknow University, Hyderabad University, etc.

As per the higher education practices in awarding academic degree, the programmes offered by IIMs are Post Graduate Programme (PGP), the private B-schools offer Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGP) and the universities offer Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
