Bhubaneswar: Disruptive innovation is future and will take centre stage in business decisions. Disruptive innovation is a mindset where the companies are transforming themselves to adopt this change. Broadly, disruptive innovation will drive social and economic conditions. The business leaders and experts who delivered talks on XIMB’s two conclaves – Envision 2016 and Stratonomics 2016 – have converged on these points.

“Envision 2016”, the annual Business Conclave, organized by X-SYS, the Systems Association of XIMB-XUB, and “Stratonomics 2016”, the Annual Business Conclave organized by CONSTRAT, the Consulting and Strategy Association of XIMB-XUB, took place at Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar today (27 August 2016). The theme of the two conclaves was “Disruptive Innovation”. While “Envision 2016” focused on Implementing Technology for Businesses, Stratonomics 2016 focused on Factors Affecting Innovation in Indian Business Scenario.

The speakers for “Envision 2016” were Mr. Debasis Bal, Senior Director, Data Science, Fidelity Investments, Mr. Piyush Kumar Chowhan, Vice President and CIO, Arvind Lifestyle Brands Limited, Mr. Sashikant Mohanty, Regional Practice Head, Asia Pacific & Japan, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Mr. Sourav Dutta, Director, Business Intelligence and Analytics, Target Corporation. The event was moderated by Prof. Deepak Mishra, XIMB-XUB, who ensured a smooth flow of the session. The speakers for “Stratonomics 2016” were Mr. Madan Mohapatra, Head of Customer Strategy, Future Group, Mr. Krishanu Chakravarty, Business head, OLAM International, Mr. Suhel Bidani, Senior Program officer, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Mr. Ashok Dash, Director, Microsoft Partner Business

The first speaker of “Envision 2016″ was Mr. Debasis Bal, who said that “Disruptive innovation is a mindset and every company is trying to build this very mindset”. The second speaker of the event was Mr. Piyush Kumar Chowhan, who gave shared his thoughts on innovation in retail and said, “Price point and cost structure are challenged tremendously in disruptive innovations”. Mr. Sourav Dutta, the third speaker of the event, focused on the three mantras of Disruptive Innovation – continuous collaboration, differentiation and consumerisation. The final speaker of the event was Mr. Sashikant Mohanty, who said that disruption is a function of time and added, “Disrupters do not compete with their likes, they create a different market altogether.”

This was followed by “Stratonomics 2016″ in the afternoon. Mr. Madan Mohapatra, the first speaker of the conclave, made an attempt to differentiate between disruption, innovation and disruptive innovation. The second speaker of the event was Mr. Krishanu Chakravarty who highlighted on the risk mitigation factor while strategizing disruptive innovations and focused on global supply chain, competitive landscape and agri-business of OLAM. The third speaker of the event, Mr. Suhel Bidani, said “Let’s create a World where every person has the opportunity to live a healthy and productive life”. Mr. Ashok Dash, the fourth speaker of the event, elaborated the role of disruptive innovation to enhance social and economic condition.
