GATE 2017: Submission of online application has started from 01 September 2016

New Delhi:  GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website has opened for enrollment, application filling, application submission from September 1, 2016 (Thursday). As per the notification of GATE 2017, the last date for submission of online application through website is October 4, 2016 (Tuesday) while last date for request for change in the choice of examination city via GOAPS login is November 16, 2016 (Wednesday).

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is the Organizing Institute for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2017 (GATE 2017). GATE 2017 Online Examination will be held on February 4 – 5, 2017 & February 11 – 12, 2017 (Saturdays and Sundays only). The application fee is  Rs 750 for women candidates, Rs 750 for SC/ST/PwD category candidates and  Rs 1500 for all other candidates. For International candidates application fee is US $50. All candidates will have to apply only online via  GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). As per the GATE notification, application fees would have to be paid through online by using net banking or debit card or e-challan facilities.

Admissions to postgraduate programs (Master’s and Ph.D.) with MHRD and other Government Scholarships/Assistantships in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science are open to those who qualify in GATE. The GATE score is also used by some organizations for their recruitment. Examinations for all the papers shall be conducted as Computer Based Test only. The validity of GATE 2017 score shall be for three years.

For the first time in the history of  GATE, GATE 2017 examination shall be held for international candidates in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E). The XE paper now has a new section on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (section H). With this the number of sections in the XE paper has increased to eight (A-H).

Gorakhpur has been added as a new center for GATE 2017. Because of the importance of the GATE examination, the number of candidates taking up GATE exams has increased tremendously and in GATE 2016 more than 9.5 Lac candidates appeared for the examination.
