New Delhi: In an attempt to attract young and talented professionals for Skill Development, the government of India has issued the notification of setting up of Indian Skill Development Services (ISDS). The Indian Skill Development Service (ISDS) will have 263 all India posts. ISDS will be a Group A service, where recruitment process will carried out through Indian Engineering Service Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

As per the press statement issued by The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), the Academy for training of the cadre will be National Institute of Skill Development. Following the notification of this service, the skill ecosystem is set to get strengthened and modernised in line with the current economic development.

The knowledge acquired by the engineers recruited will boost the initiatives of the government for skill development. In the coming years, the ministry will build a workforce of trained skill administrators who upscale the skills of youths.

Under the Skill India mission, the government of India has taken a host of measures to build skilled capitals in India. Under this mission, the government has set a target of skilling 500 million people by 2022.

As per the press statement, the MSDE informed that the Training Directorate of is involved in implementation of various schemes:  Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) covering 126 trades, Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS) covering 259 trades and Skill Development Initiative Scheme (SDIS) for the Modular Employable Skill (MES) covering 578 modules. Another major responsibility of the Training Directorate is the conducting examinations and awarding certificates regularly under National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT). Further, the institute hosts advance skill training supervisory training staff training through its various field institutes spread across the country.
