Manesar, Haryana: “There is no greater joy than building something from scratch. Create opportunities and grab opportunities. If you do what you really love, the sky is the limit. Once you figure out what it is you are most interested in, you will make it,” said Mr Deep Kalra, Group CEO, MakeMyTrip at the BML Munjal University’s (BMU) New Batch & Class of 2020 Orientation programme.  He advised students next 10 years they should look forward to working hard and sweating it out.

BML Munjal University’s (BMU) students, faculty, and administration welcomed 500 new students and their parents into the campus during Orientation week held between August 17th -21st. With representation from 20 states, the third batch of undergraduate students in B.Tech, B.Com Hons., and BBA programmes stood as a microcosm of India.

The week-long, inter-cultural orientation was unique in that it was driven by seniors themselves similar to Ivy League Universities in the US and proved to be inspiring, informative, and fun for the new students and a valuable guide to help them prepare for their BMU experience. BMU is a unique and innovative not-for-profit educational initiative of The Hero Group, which includes companies such as Hero MotoCorp and Hero Cycles.

In additional to Mr Deep Kalra,  Saurabh Srivastava , Chairman to Several Companies, Co-founder & erstwhile Chairman of NASSCOM & Serial Entrepreneur, Angel Investor & VC, among others, gave inspirational and practical advise to the incoming students of the BMU family on how to make the most of these foundation years.

Senior students at the University also exhibited their innovative bent by creating contemporary games like Pokemon Treasure Hunt that helped the new batch discover and explore the sprawling 50 plus acre campus and by creating adventure games like Flying Fox for the more athletic and sporty incoming students.

Akshay Munjal, President BMU said, “We realize that each student is unique and, as a community, we strive to maximize that unique potential.” He further pointed out BMU’s commitment in creating an unparalleled learning environment, and transforming students into well-rounded, industry ready-individuals who are equipped to take on leadership responsibilities from day one of graduating from the university.

Other sessions by external speakers such as Mr. Shiva Keshvanan, Winter Olympian; Mr. Nipun Malhotra, Co-founder & CEO, Nipman Foundation; Mr. Ashish Mathur, Director, Emerson India; Mr. Rahul Sehgal, Director, Siemens; Mr. Babu Lal, HR, BHEL; Mr. Shivjeet Kullar, CEO-NFX Digital; Mr. Anil Chopra Retd. Air Marshal, made the Orientation week a world-class and inspirational one.
