Roorkee, 10 June 2018: Mr. Pranav Goyal from IIT Roorkee Zone is the All India Topper in the Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced 2018, the admission test for entering the 23 Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). Mr. Pranav Goyal, from Panchkula district, Haryana, obtained Rank No: 1 in Common Rank List (CRL) in JEE (Advanced) 2018 by obtaining 337 marks out of 360 marks.

Prof. Ajit K. Chaturvedi, Director, IIT Roorkee, will congratulate him on his achievement. The Female Topper from IIT Roorkee is Ms. Vrinda Jindal, who secured CRL No: 137.

Speaking about the results, Prof, M.L. Sharma, Chairman, JEE (Advanced) – IIT Roorkee, said, “I congratulate Mr. Pranav and Ms. Vrinda for their great achievement and would welcome both to join IIT Roorkee. We have successfully conducted the JEE Advanced 2018 as a computer-based test.”

In 2018, a total of 11, 279 seats are being offered in the IITs. This year, 800 supernumerary seats have been created specifically for female candidates in the IITs to improve the gender balance in IITs and as per directives of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

A Total number of 1,55,158 candidates appeared in both papers 1 and 2 in JEE (Advanced) 2018. A total of 18138 candidates have qualified JEE (Advanced) 2018, i.e., 18138 candidates scored above the cut‐offs required for qualification.

Following are more details about the qualified candidates:

  1. Total number of qualified boys: 16062
  2. Total number of qualified girls: 2076
  3. Total number of qualified general (GE) candidates: 8794
  4. Total number of qualified OBC candidates: 3140
  5. Total number of qualified SC candidates: 4709
  6. Total number of qualified ST candidates: 1495

A total of 14,414 candidates registered for JEE Advanced 2018 from IIT Roorkee Zone, which comprises Chandigarh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. 13,841 candidates appeared for the examinations, which were conducted in 45 centers in 26 cities. Of these, 1,800 students have qualified in the JEE Advanced.

The Top Five Ranks from IIT Roorkee Zone went to:

  2. Mr. Neel Aryan Gupta – CRL No: 10
  3. Mr. Tarush Goyal – CRL No: 16
  4. Mr. Shivam Goel – CRL No: 18
  5. Mr. Raaghav Raaj Kuchiyaa – CRL No: 27
