Bangalore: Simplilearn, one of the world’s largest providers of online training and professional certification courses, today announced that cyber security expert Joseph Steinberg has joined the company as an Advisory Board member. This step will strengthen the company’s position in Information (IT) Security vertical and courses. The company has said in a statement that a veteran executive in the IT security industry, Steinberg will contribute his expertise towards the rapid growth of Simplilearn’s Information (IT) Security category and courses.

Demand for certified information security professionals is growing and will continue the pace in line with penetration of Internet of Things (IoT). As reported by Frost & Sullivan and the IT security industry expects a shortfall of 1.5 million skilled information security professionals by 2019.

“An increasing cybersecurity skills gap is creating vulnerabilities when so many security-related positions go unfilled,” said Steinberg. “With the further expansion of the Internet of Things, a heightened focus on social engineering, and constant attacks targeting confidential information, the demand for skilled IT professionals is at an all-time high. I am excited to advise Simplilearn and help build a pipeline of trained cybersecurity workers to meet the industry demands of today and tomorrow.”

According to a recent jobs report by Burning Glass, there will be growing demand for an industry certification in cybersecurity. The report mentioned that one third (35%) of cybersecurity jobs call for an industry certification, compared to 23% of IT jobs overall.

Commenting on the appointment of Joseph Steinberg, Simplilearn CEO Krishna Kumar said that Steinberg’s expertise will provide learners with unparalleled guidance.
