Bengaluru/Mumbai: Two-year Post Graduate Programmes in Management (PGP) of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, IIM Banglore and IIM Calcutta have been ranked among Top 25 in the Financial Times Global Masters in Management 2016 ranking. Among B-Schools in India, IIM Ahmedabad stood first with global ranking of 16 while IIM Bangalore featured second (Global Rank, 19) and IIM Calcutta (Global Rank, 23) at third place. IIMB Bangalore saw a jump of seven spots compared to the previous year ranking while IIM Ahmedabad slipped one spot and IIM Calcutta fell 7 places this year ranking.

The Global ranking report also mentioned that IIM Bangalore is also the only management school in India to lead in school diversity with 28% women in the two-year programme, 21% women faculty and 25% of women on the school advisory board. “IIM Bangalore’s moving up seven spots to gain a position among the Top 20 in the Financial Times Global Masters in Management 2016 Rankings reiterates our efforts towards achieving global excellence. Also it’s a proud moment at IIMB, to top the School Diversity criteria. We focus on building leaders in a diverse ecosystem, as it helps to draw upon the widest possible range of views and experiences,” said Prof. Raghavan Srinivasan, Director Incharge, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

The global tally in the Global Masters in Management 2016 ranking was led by University of St Gallen (Switzerland), while HEC Paris (France) was placed at second position. Essec Business School (France) featured at third spot while ESCP Europe (France, Germany, Spain) and Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (The Netherlands) stood at four and fifth places, respectively.  The 12th annual FT Global Masters in Management 2016 ranking features a record 93 Masters in Management programmes, up from 70 in 2014. USA based B-Schools have not participated in the ranking table by the British Newspaper survey.

The FT Global Masters in Management 2016 ranking, released on 11 September 2016,  is based on a relative assessment of the world’s top pre-experience degrees in general management, calculated according to data provided by schools and alumni. The ranking is based on data collected from two surveys: one of the participating business schools and the other of alumni who graduated three years ago – the class of 2013.
