Mumbai: Indian workers rank well above global averages on all employee engagement metrics, scoring higher than all other countries, says ‘Engagement and the Global Workplace’ research report by Steelcase.

The study found that 28% of Indian employees participated in this global survey are highly engaged and highly satisfied compared to global average of 13%. Further, employee dissatisfaction levels are also low as 4% of Indian employees participated in this global are Highly Disengaged and Highly Dissatisfied compared to global average of 11%.

Total no of Indian employees participated in the survey was 802. Steelcase’s Engagement and the Global Workplace’ survey has 12,480 participants from 17 countries.

India is noteworthy for its extremely positive employee perceptions about the workplace. While the places where people work may not be better than offices in other countries, many Indian employees’ expectations may be shaped by their comparatively modest living conditions.

The Steelcase Global Report is the first study that explores the relationship between employee engagement and how people feel about their workplace.  “Its key findings affirm our belief the belief that the places where people work can influence not only productivity, but also shape employee attitudes and beliefs” said Jim Keane, CEO of Steelcase Inc.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your quality of life at work? India scores 7.4% as compared to global average of 6.6% . 82% Indian employees participated in the survey believe job gives a sense of personal achievement and 80% will give recommendation as an employer.
