Jamshedpur : XLRI – Xavier School of Management, one of India’s premier B-Schools, hosted the 2nd Convocation Ceremony for its Blended PGDM Programmes on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at its Jamshedpur campus. The event marked a significant milestone in XLRI’s journey of shaping responsible leaders for the greater good.

The ceremony was graced by Shri Ashwini Kumar Tewari, Managing Director, State Bank of India, as the Chief Guest, along with Dr. (Fr.) Sebastian George, S.J., Director, XLRI Jamshedpur; Dr. Sanjay Patro, Dean Academics; Dr. (Fr.) Donald D’Silva, S.J., Dean Administration & Finance; Dr. R. Giridhar, Associate Dean XOL Programmes; Dr. H.K. Pradhan, Programme Director, PGDM (Finance); and Dr. R.K. Premarajan, Programme Director, PGDM HRM (Emerging CHROs).

The event began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the welcome address and inspiring speeches by the dignitaries.

Graduating Students

This year, a total of 189 students were conferred with their diplomas across four specialised programmes:

  • Finance: 24
  • Human Resource Management (HRM): 36
  • Business Management (BM): 82
  • Emerging CHROs: 47

The graduating batch took the XLRI Pledge, committing themselves to uphold the institute’s core values of Excellence with Integrity, ethical leadership and responsibility towards society.

Academic Excellence Recognised

Four students were honoured with Gold Medals for Academic Excellence:

  • Sonal Arora – Emerging CHROs
  • Soumya Sibani Sahoo – Business Management (BM)
  • Shruti Mittra – Human Resource Management (HRM)
  • Sai Supriya Bhupathiraju – Finance

Their stellar performance exemplifies the spirit of academic rigour and dedication that XLRI stands for.

  • Message from Chief Guest – Shri Ashwini Kumar Tewari:
    A distinguished banking leader with an illustrious career spanning over three decades at the State Bank of India, inspired the audience by emphasizing the importance of relevance, contribution and character in defining success. He reminded the graduates that their convocation was not just the culmination of academic rigor, but the beginning of their responsibility to their organizations, families and the nation.
  • Message from Dr. (Fr.) Sebastian George, Director, XLRI Jamshedpur:
    Congratulated the students on their achievements, drawing upon Marcus Aurelius’ Meditations. He highlighted the four cardinal virtues essential for leadership: wisdom, fortitude, justice and temperance. And urged graduates to embrace resilience, fairness and reasoning as they take on responsibilities in their professional and personal lives.
  • Message from Dr. Sanjay Patro, Dean Academics:
    Welcomed the graduates into XLRI’s global alumni network, highlighting the transformative journey of the Blended PGDM Programmes and their role in preparing leaders for a world shaped by AI, sustainability and evolving workplaces.
  • Message from Dr. (Fr.) Donald D’Silva, Dean Administration & Finance:
    Lauded the graduating class for balancing the challenges of work and study. He reflected on XLRI’s 75-year legacy as a crucible of excellence and ethics while urging students to lead with integrity, purpose and service to humanity, especially in times marked by rapid technological and geopolitical change.
