Kolkata, 18 September 2025: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Kolkata, an Institute of National Importance, has released PhD Admission for Spring 2025 semester.
Research Areas: Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Computational and Data Sciences, Earth Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Physical Sciences and Space Sciences.
Eligible applicants of the PhD programme are encouraged to apply for the attractive Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (https://pmrf.in/) in addition to applying to IISER Kolkata regular admission.

Fees:
Reservations for candidates will be as per Govt of India norms.
Application fee (non-refundable) for GEN, EWS, OBC-NCL: ₹ 200/-
Application fee (non-refundable) for PwD, SC, ST: ₹ 100/-
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
(i) Master’s degree with at least 55% (50% for reserved category) aggregate marks in Chemistry or Physics or Mathematics or Biology.
or (ii) 4-year BS with 75% (70% for reserved category) aggregate marks with Chemistry as one of the subjects.
Final year MSc/MS/BS students who are yet to obtain their degree may also apply; however, they must complete the MSc/MS/BS degree at the time of admission with the requisite aggregate marks.
Selection of the candidates will be as per the GoI norms. Candidates belonging to the respective reserved category need to submit relevant certificates and documents.
Besides satisfying minimal eligibility criteria, the candidates must have CSIR/UGC- NET JRF, or other Equivalent Fellowships (For PhD advertisement under JRF).
Selection procedure:
List of shortlisted candidates (based on merit, subject specialization and required research area) for interview will be published in the IISER-Kolkata website.
The Institute will not provide any TA/DA or accommodation for attending the interview.
The selected candidates will receive the offer letter containing also the last date for joining shortly after the interview.
