IIM Ranchi hosted the Springer Nature India Research Tour 2025 team on Monday, October 27, 2025, as part of a nationwide initiative jointly organized with the Ministry of Education and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). The tour aims to promote and strengthen research activities across Institutes of National Importance and other leading academic institutions in India. Commencing on October 6, 2025, from New Delhi, the tour reached Ranchi on Monday and will conclude on November 11, 2025, in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. Travelling under the theme “Driving Ideas, Insights and Impact,” the Springer Nature India Research Tour continues to engage with scholars and researchers across the country to encourage innovation and knowledge exchange.

On this occasion, the event was graced by Springer Nature India’s Managing Director Mr. Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi, ICSSR’s Deputy Director Dr. Mallika Sankar, IIM Ranchi’s Director Prof. Deepak Srivastava, Dean (Academics) Prof. Tanusree Dutta, and Chairperson of the Doctoral Programme & Research Prof. Manish Bansal, along with other faculty members and research scholars.

In his address, Prof. Srivastava, said that the Government of India had announced the “One Nation, One Subscription” initiative last year, under which all research papers from institutions across the country will be available in a single database. This step will enhance accessibility and promote a stronger research culture among scholars. He added that while institutions across India may differ in structure and purpose, all share a common goal of advancing research excellence. Prof. Srivastava mentioned that IIM Ranchi has been making consistent and meaningful efforts in this direction, as reflected in its achievement of the 8th position among IIMs in the NIRF ranking (Research Category). He further emphasized that research conducted by academic institutions plays a crucial role in guiding governance and public policy, contributing significantly to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. To strengthen this ecosystem, IIM Ranchi has established the Research Method Group (RMG), which will work to expand and enrich research practices.

Mr. Sarvasiddhi shared that this is the third edition of the Springer Nature India Research Tour, which aims to connect with researchers from different states and institutions across the country. This year, the 40-day tour will cover 14 cities across seven states, visiting key academic and research centers. He highlighted that each region of India has its own distinctive areas of research and that true research impact can only be achieved when education is combined with awareness of social relevance. He also affirmed that Springer Nature India will extend full cooperation to the government’s “One Nation, One Subscription” initiative, helping scholars and educators publish and share their research on a global platform.

Keynote speaker Dr. Sankar said that the Government of India is providing dedicated funding to promote quality research across disciplines. Highlighting the tribal context of Jharkhand, she emphasized the need for studies that address the livelihood challenges of marginalized and tribal communities under the PM Janjatiya Yojana. She encouraged researchers to focus on relevant themes that contribute to social development and policy formulation through high-quality research papers.

On this occasion, five women faculty members cum Researcher of IIM Ranchi – Prof. Tanusree Dutta, Prof. Anupriya Khan, Prof. Shilpee A. Dasgupta, Prof. Mayank Jyotsna Soni, and Prof. Vijaya Dixit, were felicitated for their continuous contribution to research. The event also featured technical workshops and interactive sessions for faculty and research scholars. Mr. Yagnesh Kesari, Executive Publisher at Springer Nature India, discussed opportunities for research collaboration and publication with IIM Ranchi. Ms. Bikashita Bhattacharya, Manager – Public Policy and Outreach, elaborated on Springer Nature India’s involvement in the One Nation, One Subscription initiative. Ms. Anmol Bhatia, Business Associate, discussed the importance and utility of e-books in the digital era.

The event concluded with a panel discussion, during which Ms. Rhea Rajpal, Manager – Outreach and Advocacy, spoke about the significance of research books in management education. Prof. Aditya Shankar Mishra, Editor of IIM Ranchi Journal of Management Studies, and Prof. Aditya Agrawal discussed the importance of academic publications in promoting research culture. Mr. Venkatesh concluded the session by explaining the process of research paper selection and publication at Springer Nature.

Dean Academics, Prof. Tanusree Dutta, delivered the vote of thanks, extending her gratitude to the team and conveying best wishes for their initiative. She emphasized that research forms the foundation for the growth of education, institutions, and society, and highlighted the need for its continuous expansion and strengthening.
