IIM Ranchi continued with Day 4 sessions of Induction 2026 for the new cohorts of MBA, MBA-HRM, MBA-BA, and PhD programmes, featuring engaging interactions with distinguished speakers from global B-school networks, academia, finance, and institutional leadership. The sessions focused on global accreditation, career development, leadership mindset, professional ethics, and responsible conduct.

The first session was led by Ms. Shikha Taunk, Strategic Engagement Manager – India, AMBA & BGA, who provided students with valuable insights into the significance of international accreditation and membership for leading business schools. She explained that accreditation such as AMBA serves as a global benchmark of quality, credibility, and continuous improvement, helping institutions strengthen their academic standards and identify opportunities for growth.

Highlighting the role of students in strengthening institutional reputation, Ms Taunk emphasised that the success of a B-school is a collective responsibility among the institution, faculty, and students. She encouraged students to develop a “manager mindset” from the beginning of their academic journey by actively participating in institutional initiatives, networking opportunities, committees, and community engagement activities. She also highlighted the growing importance of sustainability and social responsibility in shaping the identity of future business leaders. She also shared reflections on the importance of managing time effectively in the digital era and encouraged students to move beyond passive consumption of short-form content and adopt purposeful learning habits that enhance focus, discipline, and professional growth.

The second session featured Shri Neelotpal Sahai, Director – Indian Equities & Head Offshore Advisory, HSBC Asset Management, who shared insights from his extensive professional journey across technology, finance, and investment management. Drawing from his experiences at institutions such as IIT, Infosys, IIM Calcutta, and the global investment industry, Shri Sahai encouraged students to view their careers as a continuous journey of learning and adaptation.

Sharing his perspective on career growth, he highlighted the importance of curiosity, resilience, and lifelong learning. He explained that different experiences gathered throughout life often become valuable assets at later stages. Using examples from investment decisions, competitive activities, and personal growth, he emphasised the importance of decision-making under uncertainty, focusing on processes rather than outcomes alone, and learning from failures. Inspiring the students, Shri Sahai said that “life is like a river that finds its own path; challenges and barriers may come, but one must remain focused on the goal.” He advised students to “connect the dots” with honesty and patience while making career decisions. He also discussed investment strategies, highlighting that financial decisions are often made with incomplete information and therefore require proper analysis, planning, and discipline. He encouraged students not to regret starting late, as every journey brings its own opportunities for growth.

The induction programme further included important student orientation sessions. Prof. Jyoti Verma, Chairperson – Student Engagement and Development Committee (SEDC), interacted with students and shared details about the institute’s Anti-Ragging Policy, including compliance procedures and consequences of violations. Following this, Prof. Shweta Jha, Chairperson – Internal Committee (IC), addressed the students on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, highlighting the importance of creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.

The day concluded with a session by Col. Tarun Kumar Jha (Retd.), Administrative Officer – Programme (I/C), who guided students on classroom etiquette, academic processes, attendance guidelines, and the functioning of the Academic Programme Office.
