Hyderabad : In a thoughtful community service initiative, Lodge Keys No. 297 distributed 402 stainless steel meal plates to students of Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS), Yedapally, in Nizamabad district, ensuring that every student has a durable plate to use for the Mid-Day Meal Programme.
The initiative was made possible through the generous donation of Mr. V. Surya Prakash, and Ms Hima Shailaja.
Members of Lodge Keys No. 297 travelled from Hyderabad to personally hand over the plates to the students.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers said that meaningful social change does not always begin with large projects. Sometimes, addressing a simple yet essential need can make a significant difference in the lives of hundreds of children. They emphasized that every child deserves to have a dignified dining experience at school and appealed to individuals and organisations to identify and support similar needs in government schools.
A special highlight of the programme was a powerful monologue performed by student Abhiram on the harmful effects of plastic pollution. Dressed in a costume made from discarded plastic materials, he delivered a thought-provoking message on how plastic, though convenient to use, remains in nature for hundreds of years, polluting the environment and harming living beings.
Through his performance, Abhiram urged everyone to make their homes, schools and communities plastic-free and encouraged the audience to take small but meaningful steps towards protecting nature.
The programme was attended by donor V. Suryaprakash, Sarpanch Kandagatla Ramachander, D. Ramachandram, member of Lodge Keys No. 297 members Ayyanna, Gangareddy, Suryanarayana, Bandi Shankar, Prakash Rao, Ram Chander and Lingesh Gupta, BJP leader Mallepalli Srinivas, the Headmaster, teachers, village elders and students.
The school authorities expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Mr. V. Surya Prakash for sponsoring the plates and to the members of Lodge Keys No. 297for their continued commitment to community service and support for government school students.
