New Delhi: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the toughest competitive examinations in India.  For GATE 2020, more than 8.58 lakh candidates have registered to appear the test compared to 9.27 lakh candidates in 2019 GATE.

From 03 January 2020 (Friday), the registered candidates will be able to download and print the admit card for GATE 2020 exam. IIT Delhi, the organizing institute of GATE 2020, will release the GATE 2020 admit card on 03 January  2020 at appsgate.iitd.ac.in in online mode.

On the Admit Card, details about GATE such as the venue address, examination date, timings and more are generally mentioned. Along with the admit card of GATE 2020, the candidates will also have to carry any one of their original identification proofs to the examination centre.

GATE 2020 Admit Card assumes significance as far as the recruitment of Executive Engineers/Management Trainees (Engineer) by leading PSUs or State PSUs via GATE 2020 score. These PSUs commence application portal for hiring these posts based on GATE 2020 Admit Card. Once results are declared, these government organizations update the final score of GATE 2020 automatically.

GATE is an examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies. Even in some colleges and institutions, which admit students without MHRD scholarship/assistantship, the GATE qualification is mandatory. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment process.

The GATE score would reflect the relative performance level of the candidate in a particular subject, which is quantified based on the several years of examination data. The GATE 2020 score is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of the results.
