Madras: The application window for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2019 commence from 01 September 2018. Closing Date for Submission of (Online) Application for GATE 2019 is 21 September 2018.  The extended closing date for submission of (Online) Application is 1 October 2018, as per the official website of GATE 2019.

Organizing Institute of GATE 2019 is Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. The official website of GATE 2019 is http://gate.iitm.ac.in/ .

Exam Days: The Examination of GATE 2019 will be held during the forenoon and afternoon sessions on 2 (Saturday) February 2019 & 3 (Sunday) February 2019 and 9 February 2019 (Saturday) & 10 February 2019 (Sunday).

Number of Subjects: GATE 2019 will be conducted on 24 subjects (Papers).

Examination for all the 24 subjects (papers) will be conducted as online Computer Based Test (CBT).

Examination for some of the papers in GATE 2019 may be held in multiple sessions. However, a candidate can appear for the examination in one session only.

CE, CS, EC, EE and ME papers: Examination may be conducted in multiple sessions.

New in GATE 2019: A new paper Statistics (ST) is added in GATE 2019. Last year there were 23 subjects.

Exam Centres: The examination will be held cities across India under Zonal GATE Offices. GATE 2019 will be held in the following foreign locations:  Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka, Kathmandu, Dubai and Singapore.

Qualifying in GATE is a mandatory requirement for seeking admission and/or financial assistance to: (i) Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and (ii) Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science, in the institutions supported by the MHRD and other Government agencies. Even in some colleges and institutions, which admit students without MHRD scholarship/assistantship, the GATE qualification is mandatory. Further, many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment process.

GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) Website Opens: Saturday 1st September 2018

Closing Date for Submission of (Online) Application: Friday 21st September 2018

Extended Closing Date for Submission of (Online) Application:   Monday 1st October 2018

Last Date for Requesting Change of Examination City (an additional fee will be applicable): Friday              16th November 2018

Admit Card will be available in the Online Application Portal (for printing): Friday               4th January 2019

Forenoon: 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon (Tentative)

Afternoon: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Tentative)
