New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination on 15 December, 2019 for 2,66,573 candidates, covering 05 subjects in two shifts. The exam was conducted in 581 centres in 207 cities. The exam was in a Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for the first time.
More than 80% of registered candidates appeared the test. Overall attendance percentage was 80.17% for I Shift and 81.29% for II Shift.
Out of the five subjects in which exam is being conducted, Life Sciences subject saw highest registrations as total number of 1,00,476 candidates registered to appear the test in the same subject. Physical Sciences saw registration of 47,215 candidates while Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences saw registration of 9,892.
A Control Room was opened and 19 Regional Coordinators, 200 City Coordinators and 600 Observers were positioned.
Live CCTV Surveillance was done in 581 examination centres to curb malpractices in the examinations. The NTA made arrangements for live viewing at control room situated in the NTA. Live Recording of CCTVs Systems of all examination centres including remote locations was also visible at the NTA Control Centre.A total of more than 5000 CCTV Cameras in each shift were installed.
Mock Test was available through a network of more than 4800 Test Practice Centres (TPCs), especially for students of rural areas. Further the Mock Test was also available online and as on date, more than 2.78 Crore page views have taken place.
Jammers- In order to stop cheating using mobile networks, Jammers were installed in all the Centres. A total of more than 5000 jammers in each shift were used.
The examination for 7,772 candidates scheduled to appear on 15 December 2019 from 24 Centres located in Assam and Meghalaya was postponed. The revised date of examination for the States of Assam and Meghalaya will be announced soon.
