New Delhi, 02 November 2019: Indian Institute of Technology, an Institute of National Importance, has celebrated 50th Convocation ceremony today. Dr K Sivan, ISRO Chairman, was the Chief Guest of the function.

On occasion the 50th Convocation, IIT Delhi has announced a host of important academic decision.

A new direct admission process for NIT  BTech students to do PhD in IIT Delhi is approved by IIT Delhi Senate. It will be implemented from 2020. Hence meritorious BTech students of NITs  will get an opportunity for Admission to Direct PhD programmes from 2020.

IIT Delhi will be starting Bachelors in Design (B.Des) from 2020 academic session. The institute will commence a new MSc in Economics and MSc in Cognitive Sciences from 2020.

The institute is through an internal approval process for starting a new MTech programme in Electric vehicles at IIT Delhi from 2020.

The institute is going through the internal approval process for starting a new MTech programme AI/ML area from 2020.

An MoU with ISRO is signed for starting a Space Technology Cell at IIT Delhi.

On the 50th Convocation Ceremony of IIT Delhi, 2042 students were awarded degrees. Out of these graduating students, 1217 were Post Graduate and 825 Under Graduate programme students.

India posts also released special stamp on the occasion of IIT Delhi’s convocation. Secretary, Department of Posts, Govt of India Shri Pradipta Kumar Bisoi was also there at the Convocation for release of the stamp.
