A special report, Mumbai: In India there are 945 universities approved by the University Grants Commission as on February 2020. Due to COVID 19 pandemic, the normal academic activities have been paralyzed.

Amid nation-wide lockdown due to Corona Virus spread, the UGC has already released Academic and Examination Calendar for 2020-21. The new Academic Year will start from September 2020. Hence admission process for the New Academic year will commence from June-July.

Here SkillOutlook presents the Top Universities in India as per NIRF 2019 (National Institute for Ranking Framework). Hence, aspirant and students will take firm decision regarding their selection of dream university. Here, IITs, NITs and Institutes of National Importance have not been considered.

Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore stands out the best universities. No doubt, IISc is the top universities confirmed by International Ranking Agencies.  Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) secures second spot in the ranking table. Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi grabs third position in the university category rankings.

The next three spots secured by University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad (4th) ; Calcutta University, Kolkata (5th); and Jadavpur University (6^th).  Anna University, Chennai secures 7^th place.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, which secures 8^th spot, emerges the top university among private universities. Manipal Academy of Higher Education, another private university, achieves 9^th position. Savitribai Phule Pune University stands at 10^th slot in the ranking table of NIRF 2019.
