Shimla: Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla, a state university in Himachal Pradesh, is inviting applications for PhD 2017 programmes. There are 224 PhD vacant seats in 23 departments of the university. The closing date for submission of online application is 03 June 2017.
The fees applicable for PhD Entrance Test is Rs 1100 /- for general candidates while Rs 600 /- for for SC/ST/IRDP/ BPL Categories candidates. H.P. University (Campus), Shimla- 171 005 is the only exam center for PhD entrance test. The application complete in all respects along with the attested copies of the certificates/ degrees and requisite fee must be submitted to the Chairperson/ Director of the concerned teaching Department/ Institute on or before 03 June 2017.
Eligibility Conditions:
Candidates for admission to the PhD programme shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC -7 point scale ( or equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency.
A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/Differently- abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the university from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks.
3% seats will be reserved for PwD candidates.
The other eligible candidates including those who have qualified their MPhil Degree from H.P. University will have to appear in the Entrance Test of 80 marks.
