Mumbai, 14 July 2020: Amid COVID 19 pandemic, the academic and competitive entrance activities have been severely affected. However, initial preparation for coming year entrance examinations has taken ground.
IIT Bombay will be organizing institute for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021. Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore will be organizing institute for Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) 2021. Meanwhile, IIT Kharagpur will conduct JEE (Advanced) 2021.
Recently, IIT Bombay held a virtual meeting with Directors of all 23 IITs for GATE 2021. GATE office of IIT Bombay is headed by Prof Deepankar Choudhury, Prof M. Aslam and Prof Upendra Bhandarkar. IIT Delhi was the organizing institute for GATE 2020. Around 18.8% candidates qualified in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2020. The pass percent of GATE 2020 is higher than the pass percentage of average of past three years – 15-17%.
IIT Kharagpur will conduct Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2021. Admission to BTech programmes of IITs is based on JEE Advanced exam score. Prof. Debashish Chakravarty, Dept. of Mining Engineering of IIT Kharagpur is the Organizing Chairman. Prof. Kamal Lochan Panigrahi, Dept. of Physics of IIT Kharagpur is Organizing Vice Chairman while Prof. Goutam Chakraborty, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering of IIT Kharagpur is also Organizing Vice Chairman. They will take charge from 16 July 2020.
Organizing Institute for JAM 2021 is IISc Bangalore. The Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) is an all-India examination conducted in eight zones across the country jointly by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras & Roorkee) on behalf of Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. JAM is for admission to M.Sc. (Two year), Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D., Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes in Science at IISc and IITs.
