Hyderabad, 08 March 2026:Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, an Institution of National Importance, has released Special PhD (High CGPA) Admissions July 2026.
IIT Hyderabad Direct PhD (High CGPA) Admissions 2026 are now open #PhD Applications are invited from meritorious students who have a CGPA of 9.0 and above in their BTech/BE/BS/BDes/MSc from IITs, NITs, IISc, IISERs & CFTIs for admission to the Direct PhD (High CGPA).
Eligibility: Open to students from IITs, IISc, and IISERs with a BTech/BE/BS/BDes degree and a CGPA of 9.0 or above (7th-semester students with a 9.0+ CGPA may also apply).
- Fellowship & GATE: Successful candidates receive a fellowship of Rs 80,000 for 4 years, and a GATE qualification is not mandatory.
- Key Dates: Applications open on March 6, 2026, and close on March 26, 2026.
- Departments: Programs are available across various fields, including Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, Sciences, and Management.

Fellowship: Rs 80,000 for 4 years
- Eligibility: BTech/BE/BS/BDes -students should have final CGPA of 9.0 or above.
- Students in the 7th semester with a CGPA of 9.0 or above may apply. However, admission will be subject to maintaining a CGPA of 9.0 after the 8th semester & other screening process
- Graduating Institutes: from IITs/IISc/IISERs
- GATE qualification: Not mandatory.
- Selection Process: Respective Departments will follow their own shortlisting and selection process.
