Chennai, 12 March 2024: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an Institute of National Importance, has announce MTech and MA Admission for 2024-2025. The application portal will open from 20 March 2024.
IIT Madras offers MTech courses in 18 departments for 21 MTech programs. IIT Madras offers MA in 3 disciplines.
For 2024-25, IIT Madras introduces new MTech program in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence under Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Opening of Website for ONLINE applications – 20 March 2024 (Wednesday)
COAP Registration (GATE Candidates Only) – 18 March 2024 (Monday)
Registration for GATE Candidates – 22 March 2024 (Monday)
Closing of Website for ONLINE applications – 19 April 2024 (Friday)
The four-semester M.Tech. Programmes offered in various Disciplines and Programmes by different departments of the institute are based on the credit system and provide a student with a wide choice of courses. Each Programme comprises several core and elective courses and project work.
Basic Eligibility in Brief:
- GATE 2022, GATE 2023, or GATE 2024 qualified candidates
- IIT Graduates with B.Tech. Degree and CGPA of 8.0 (on a scale of 10) and above can apply without GATE Score.
Half-Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA) :
Financial assistance in the form of Half-Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA) at the rate of ₹12,400/- p.m.
HTTA students are required to assist the department for 8 hours of work per week related to academic activities of the department, such as laboratory demonstration, tutorials, evaluation of assignments, test papers, seminars, research projects, etc.
Tenable for a maximum period of 24 months will be awarded to Indian Nationals doing the M.Tech. Programmes, subject to Institute rules.
