Goa: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Goa has invited online applications for admission to the PhD Program for the Academic Year 2018-19.

Key Dates: The last date for receipt of completed application forms PhD Online is 31 October 2018.

Minimum Eligibility Criteria (refer to BOTH the Sections I and II below):

1. General Eligibility Criteria for Engineering Departments (Computer Science & Engineering,

Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering)

For GEN/OBC (NC) one of the following:

1. a) Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate

OR

a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0 on a scale of 1-10 or an equivalent to 6.0 on other corresponding

proportional requirements when the scales are other than 0-10.

OR

First class as specified by the university

1. b) B. Tech/M. Sc in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 80%

marks in aggregate

OR

a minimum CGPA/CPI of 8.0 on a scale of 1-10 or an equivalent to 8.0 on other corresponding

proportional requirements when the scales are other than 0-10.

AND

Additional requirements as listed in section II below. For SC/ST/PwD ONE of the following:

1. c) Master’s Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate

OR

a minimum CGPA/CPI of 5.5 on a scale of 1-10 or an equivalent to 5.5 on other corresponding

proportional requirements when the scales are other than 0-10.

1. d) B. Tech/M. Sc in Engineering/Technology or equivalent degree with a minimum of 75%

marks in aggregate

OR

a minimum CGPA/CPI of 7.5 on a scale of 1-10 or an equivalent to 7.5 on other corresponding proportional requirements when the scales are other than 0-10.

AND

Additional requirements as listed in section II below.

1. General Eligibility Criteria for Science Departments (Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics)

For GEN/OBC (NC): Master’s Degree in Science or equivalent degree with a minimum of 70%

marks in aggregate

OR

First class as specified by the university

OR

a minimum CGPA/CPI of 6.0 on a scale of 1-10 or an equivalent to 6.0 on other corresponding

proportional requirements when the scales are other than 0-10.

For SC/ST/PwD: Master’s Degree in Science or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55%

marks in aggregate

OR

a minimum CGPA/CPI of 5.5 on a scale of 1-10 or an equivalent to 5.5 on other corresponding

proportional requirements when the scales are other than 0-10.

1. General Eligibility Criteria for Humanities & Social Sciences (HSS) Department

For GEN/OBC (NC): Master’s Degree in Arts or equivalent degree in allied subjects with a

minimum of 55% marks in aggregate

For SC/ST/PwD: Master’s Degree in Arts or equivalent degree in allied subjects with a

minimum of 50% marks in aggregate

1. Candidates eligible in sections IA(b), IA(d), IB and IC must fulfill ONE of the following additional

requirements:

1. i) Valid GATE Score
2. ii) Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of CSIR/ UGC/ NBHM/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR

or DST INSPIRE Fellowship

iii) Candidates having UGC-NET Lectureship (LS) are also eligible for Teaching

Assistantship in addition to other academic qualifications in Humanities & Social

Sciences Department.

1. iv) Minimum of 2 years of professional experience (acquired after obtaining the qualifying

degree and completed before the starting of the semester in which admission is sought)
