Kolkata: Presidency University, Kolkata, a public state university located in West Bengal, has invited online applications from eligible candidates for admission to various PhD programmes. The last date of application is 30th June 2017.
The PhD programmes are offered by the University in 14 departments. The total number of vacant PhD seats for 2017-18 is 129. Out of these, the Life Sciences department has 25 seats available for PhD admission for 2017-18. Bengali, English, and Hindi have 7, 5, and 8 seats are available for PhD admission. Further History (12 seats), Physics (18), and Geology (10) subjects are also available for PhD admission.
Eligibility Conditions: The candidates should have qualified UGC – CSIR NET / UGC NET and NET – LS. UGC – CSIR NET / UGC NET and NET – LS. Candidates for admission to the PhD program shall have a Master’s degree with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B as per UGC guide lines.
Selection Procedure: All eligible candidates will have to mandatorily appear in the interview / test, conducted by the respective Departmental Ph.D. Committee of the University. The candidates will be expected to discuss their research interests in the interview.
