New Delhi:  In a bid to control academic activities damaged by Corona Virus outbreak, the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) Committee on Examinations and Academic Calendar for the Universities has recommended that the admission process will start from 1 to 31 August 2020.

Due to spread of COVID 19, there are chances of a further extension of nationwide lockdown. Universities and schools have been closed since 16 March 2020, when the Centre announced  the shutdown of academic activities as one of the measures to contain the Covid-19 outbreak.

In its recommendation, the committee said, “The Academic Session: 2020-21 shall commence from 1.8.2020-1 1.09.2020 for old/fresh students. Accordingly, the committee recommends following Academic Calendar for the session 2020-21”.

Admission Process 01 Aug 2020 to 31 Aug 2020
Commencement of Classes
i-Student of 2nd  Years and 3rd Years 01.08.2020
ii-Fresh Batch ( First Semester/Years) 01.09.2020
Conduct Examinations 01.01.2021 to 25.01.2021
Commencement of Classes for Even Semester 27.01.2021
Dispersal of Classes 25.05.2021
Conduct Examinations 26.05.2021 to 25.06.2021
Summer Vacations 01.07.2021 to 30.07.2021
Commencement  of next Academic Session 02.08.2021

The classes for second and third year students will begin from August 1. Meanwhile, the fresh batch for first semester will join classes from 01 September 2020. Examinations will be conducted from January 1, 2021, till January 25. Commencement of classes for even semester will begin from January 27 and dispersal will be on May 25.

The examinations will be conducted from 26 May  2021, with summer vacations from  01 July  to 30 July 2020.  The commencement of the next academic session will be from 02 September 2021.
