New Delhi, 13 July 2020: The Admission 2020-21 portal for University of Delhi has been opened from 20 June 2020. The closing date for application submission has been extended to 18 July 2020. Four more days remain for closing date of the application submission.
As on 13 July 2020 (11 AM), the total number candidates registered for Admission to DU on various programmes have crossed 5.3 Lakh mark.
More than 146,000 candidates have registered for various PG programmes of DU till 03 July 2020. For PhD and MPhil courses, more than 26,400 candidates have taken registration at the Admission portal as on 13 July 2020. Meanwhile, for UG programmes, more than 3,63, 000 candidates applied for the AY 2020-21.

Admission Procedure:
For UG Progarmmes: Merit-Based Admission to Undergraduate Courses; and Course-wise Merit List for Merit-based UG Admissions.
For PG Programmes: All the Departments of the University, except those that offer inter-disciplinary or professional courses, have two modes of admission for Postgraduate Courses:
- MERIT BASED for PG Courses: 50% of the total seats will be filled on the basis of the applicants‘ merit in the Qualifying Examination. Wherever applicable, MERIT BASED option is open only for the applicants who have eligible Bachelor Degree from the University of Delhi.
- ENTRANCE TEST BASED for Pg Courses: Remaining 50% of the total seats will be filled on the basis of applicants’ rank in Entrance Test.
It may again be noted that all the applicants seeking admission to the Postgraduate Courses have to mandatorily register online, irrespective of the mode of admission. There will be no offline admission.
At the time of Registration applicants can choose to apply under one of the following options:
- MERIT BASED only
- ENTRANCE TEST BASED only
- Both MERIT and ENTRANCE TEST BASED
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct Delhi University Entrance Test for PG Programmes. The dates for Entrance will be announced.
For MPhil/PhD Programme Programmes: Admission to MPhil/PhD Programme is through entrance examination, followed by an interview. Entrance Test will conducted by the NTA, Delhi University Entrance Test for MPhil and PhD Progarmmes.
As per indicative 2019-20 seat matrix, the total number of PhD seats are 1019 while the total number of MPhil seats are 609.
Major Faculties where vacant MPhil or PhD seats exist are as followed: Arts, Applied Social Sciences &
Humanities, Commerce & Business Studies, Education, Inter Disciplinary & Applied Sciences, Music & Fine Arts, Law, Mathematical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Science.
