New Delhi, 06 February 2021: The first Exam Day of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021 concluded successfully. In the morning session, GATE 2012 Exam saw an attendance of about 77.2%, and in the afternoon it was 78.7%. These figures match quite well with those figures for previous years.
In a statement, Director of IIT Bombay, Subhasis Chaudhuri, informed this year the GATE office managed to provide 99.19% candidates their first choice of exam city. About 0.78% candidates got their second choice. For female candidates, we could manage 99.39% of them in their first choice itself. For PwD candidates, 99.66% could be accommodated in their first choice.
Subhasis Chaudhuri said “This is definitely helping the students. I personally visited a few centers today and plan to do the same tomorrow as well. Our best wishes to those candidates appearing for exams tomorrow.”
GATE 2021 office has prepared a special certificate requesting all concerned to allow the candidates to pass through any blockade that they may face on their way.

Considering COVID 19 pandemic, the dates for the GATE-2021 examination have been spread out over a longer duration as 5th, 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th and 14th February 2021. Out of Exam Dates, two days are reserved for Zonal GATE officials who will conduct trial (mock test) for Invigilators, others exam conducting staff and preparation of exam centre including Sanitization and other activities.
